Unknown drug hits Russia

  Russia used to be one of the biggest drug consumers in the world and is currently the second world's largest consumer of drugs. In 2010, 7192 deaths were caused by drugs in Russia.

   A new synthetic drug is taking a terrible toll among young Russians. The first side effects of this drug were reported this week in Moscow and several inhabitants of the capital had to be hospitalized. But fatal cases of severe systemic intoxication have been reported from western Siberia, the Urals and central Russia. It turns out that these patients have used this same synthetic drug and have been contaminated.

   The number of fatalities has now risen to 21 people and more than 700 people had to receive medical assistance. According to Perviy Kanal, a public channel: "the spread of the poison has already become a natural disaster". So, drug users must be more cautious than ever on health care. Fortunately, these people went to the hospital and were treated by medical staff. 

Paradoxically the federal drug control service (FSKN) didn't found this illicit drug after the autopsy and toxicological test on the persons who died in the hospital. Therefore, it is likely that this "killer drug" is a mixture of dangerous and unknown toxins.

   Drug addiction remains a serious and major problem in Russia. But the consumption of drug has significantly decreased after the 2000s in the wake of political stabilization and economic recovery.

Une drogue inconnue frappe la Russie

 

La Russie est un grand consommateur de drogue, elle est même devenue le deuxième plus grand consommateur de drogue par injection au monde. En 2010, 7.192 décès ont été causés par la drogue en Russie.

   Une drogue synthétique encore inconnue est en train de faire des ravages surtout parmi les jeunes. Les premiers cas ont été signalés à Moscou et plusieurs personnes ont été hospitalisées. Mais des cas mortels sont survenus après une intoxication en Sibérie occidentale, dans l'Oural et dans les régions du centre de la Russie. Il se trouve que ces patients avaient consommé la même drogue.

   Le bilan s'élève déjà à 21 morts et plus de 700 personnes ont dû recevoir des soins médicaux.

Selon Perviy Kanal, une chaîne de télévision publique: "la propagation de ce poison a déjà pris la dimension d'une catastrophe naturelle". Les consommateurs de drogue sont donc appelés à être vigilants.

Le service fédéral de contrôle des stupéfiants n'a pas trouvé cette drogue illicite dans l'organisme des morts et il est donc probable que cette "drogue tueuse" soit un mélange très dangereux de différentes substances.

   La toxicomanie reste un des problèmes majeurs en Russie. Mais la consommation de drogue a diminué après les années 2000 suite à une stabilisation politique et au redressement économique du pays.
