Moscow against swine flu

Wednesday 11 November

School break is extended by a week, till next Monday, for teenagers, Moscow is striving against the seasonal flu and swine flu.
Students of High school are not willing to stay at home and big groups of teenagers can be spotted in the streets or at the cinema during normal school hours. Unfortunately for them, teachers give homework via the phone or internet.
Theoretically, kindergartens and pre-schools are open, but the situation is stressful. Chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onishchenko ordered the introduction of a “morning filter.” Each child temperature is taken before they enter school, and if it is higher than 98.6, the child is not admitted.
Presently, nearly every family has experienced a case of flu or acute respiratory viral infection. The majority of Muscovites admit that they did not see a doctor and used home remedies for treatment.
Those measures have been discussed at a working meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev and Tatyana Golikova, Minister of Health and Social Development.
