The Roev Ruchey, a zoo in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, challenged two of its animals to try to predict who would win the U.S. presidential elections, to see who is the better oracle.
The two animals, Felix, a polar bear, and Yunona, a female tiger, had to choose between two pumpkins filled with meat and fish, each symbolizing one of the two candidates. It was a hard choice because they both like this kind of food.
Felix’s pumpkins had the names of the candidates carved on them, and for Yunona, a likeness of the two opponents was emblazoned on the fruit.
They were split. Indeed, after hesitated for a long time, Felix finally chose Trump, the Republican candidate, while Yunona opted for Clinton, the Democratic nominee, after some deliberation.
For correctly predicting the elections result, Felix received officially the title of “predictor”. His reward will consist of a cake made of cottage cheese, pumpkin, capers and ice.
The hope of workers at the Krasnoyarsk zoo is that Felix will continue to make accurate prophecies.
The phenomenon of Paul the Octopus inspired this experiment. Paul predicted that Spain would triumph in the 2010 World Football Cup final and also guessed the correct outcome of 11 out of Germany’s 13 matches in the 2008 Euro Cup!

Le Roev Ruchey, un zoo à Krasnoïarsk, en Russie, a mis au défi deux de ses animaux d’essayer de prédire qui allait gagner les élections présidentielles américaines, afin de voir qui est le meilleur oracle.
Les deux animaux, Félix, un ours polaire, et Yunona, une tigresse, ont dû choisir entre deux citrouilles remplies de viande et de poisson, symbolisant chacune l’un des candidats, un choix très difficile car ils aiment tous les deux ce genre de nourriture.
Le nom des candidats était inscrit sur les citrouilles de Félix, et pour Yunona, le portrait des deux adversaires était gravé sur le fruit.
Ils étaient partagés. En effet, après avoir longuement hésité, Félix a finalement choisi Trump, le candidat républicain, alors que Yunona a opté pour Clinton, la représentante démocrate, après quelques hésitations.
Pour avoir prédit correctement le résultat des élections, Félix a reçu officiellement le titre de « Grand Prévisionniste ». Sa récompense consistera en un gâteau fait de fromage blanc, de citrouille, de câpres et de glace.
Le phénomène Paul le poulpe a inspiré cette expérience. Paul a prédit que l’Espagne gagnerait la coupe du monde de football 2010 et a aussi deviné le résultat de 11 des 13 matchs de l’équipe d’Allemagne à l’Euro 2008 !
